X13 Motion Detection Troubleshooting
Like most battery-powered security cameras, this camera uses a PIR motion sensor to detect motions.
- If your camera isn’t detecting motion as expected, try the following steps to identify the cause:
- Ensure the camera faces an open area. Do not cover or shroud the front of the camera. Otherwise, the PIR motion detection function will not work.
- The PIR motion sensor works based on heat and cannot detect motion through glass or windows. It may miss some motions from small animals. It may miss motions or trigger false detections in very hot areas.
- The camera takes about 1 second to wake up and start recording after detecting motion. Weak or slow Wi-Fi connections can also increase this delay. As a result, fast-moving objects may be missed or appear in empty video clips if they move out of view before recording begins.
- If motion continues, the camera may record multiple video clips. By default, each clip is 10 seconds long. After recording, the camera returns to sleep mode. It will wake up and record a new clip if motion is still detected. Please note, there may be a short gap of a few seconds between recordings. You can adjust the video length in the Smart Alarm section on the Settings page.
- Motion may not be detected reliably when someone walks straight toward the camera, as the movement is minimal in the camera’s view. The sensor works best when motion moves across the camera's view. To solve this problem, angle the camera so that people move across its view instead of directly toward it. Mounting the camera slightly to the side of walkways and adjusting the sensitivity in the app can also help.
